Established in 1993, West Michigan Air Care is one of the leading full-service critical care transport systems. It is a cooperative program sponsored by Borgess Medical Center and Bronson Methodist Hospital, and was the first hospital-based consortium air medical program in the United States. The program offers lifesaving, patient stabilizing transport throughout southern Michigan, northern Indiana, and Northwestern Ohio. The company provides services for all medical situations, including patients in severe cardiac crisis, multiple trauma, spinal cord injury, high-risk pregnancies, and children with life threatening illnesses and injuries. Air Care is staffed with licensed emergency medical technicians, specializing in hospital and military operations, and offers services 24-hours, throughout the year. Located in Kalamazoo, Mich., the company transports its patients through its fully equipped helicopter to medical facilities offering a wide range of specialty care services, such as trauma centers, cardiology, neurology, burn, high-risk obstetrics and pediatric.
