Washtenaw Environmental Health is a department that protects and improves the quality of the environment and health of the citizens of Washtenaw County in Michigan. The department provides radon test kits for home testing. It conducts soil evaluations for onsite septic systems and issues well and septic permits. Washtenaw Environmental Health also inspects restaurants, public swimming pools and businesses that store and manufacture hazardous and toxic materials. In addition, the department investigates food borne illness reports and rodent, garbage, restaurant and other nuisance complaints. It samples public beach and swimming pool water for bacteria and provides sample bottles for private well water testing.
