The University of Michigan Medical School offers education, research and patient care services. It includes various law, business, public health, dentistry, social work and pharmacy schools. The system maintains a network of hospitals and health centers. The University of Michigan Medical School also includes the Faculty Group Practice, which has more than 1,500 physicians. Founded in 1850, it has offered over 15,000 master s degrees. The system operates biological chemistry, human genetics, pharmacology, microbiology and immunology, and molecular and integrative physiology departments. The University of Michigan Medical School administers a medical scientist training program that features lectures, group sessions and patient interaction activities. It offers graduate and postdoctoral courses to nearly 600 students, physicians and biomedical scholars. The system is a part of The Regents of the University of Michigan.
