Adaptive Materials, founded in 2000, is one of the leading companies in the development of portable fuel cell technology. Its product line includes two baseline solid oxide fuel cell systems called e20 and e50 and these systems provide 20- and 50-watts of continuous power while running off commercially available propane. Its additional capabilities include manufacturing of various artificial materials, fine-scale fibers, co-fired structures, microchannel structures, honeycomb tubes and piezoelectric transducer composites. The company is headquartered in Ann Arbor, Mich. Its advisory board comprises of business, legal and manufacturing leaders and has partnered with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
