History
Third Coast Paddling, part of Third Coast Surf Shop, was started as a way for people to experience the incredible beauty of Lake Michigan. Local residents of Michigan's Harbor Country and visitors alike can escape for an hour or more during our open season of May - September.
Specialties
Looking for fun things to do outdoors? Bring your family and friends to try rental kayaks or stand-up paddleboards on the Galien River, a unique Great Lakes marsh that formed along the Galien River just upstream from Lake Michigan. Please note that this is a different site than where we have been located in previous years (you may have visited us across the street at New Buffalo Beach or at our site on Red Arrow Highway). This new location is the perfect launch for exploring the Galien River's wetlands and wildlife. Our new site also has plenty of parking, and is within walking distance of downtown New Buffalo. Our trained staff will give your group an orientation before you hit the water. All equipment, including paddles and life jackets, is provided at the rental sites. Advance reservations through our website are strongly encouraged. Drop-ins are also welcome; however, please note that selection may be limited depending on demand. Hours subject to change depending on weather conditions; check our website for updates. We also can handle bigger groups of up to 70 with advance registration - perfect for reunions, parties, or corporate events. Great way for all ages -- kids and families included -- to get active and explore one of Southwest Michigan's best outdoor attractions. Located in New Buffalo, Michigan, just an hour from Chicago, in the heart of Harbor Country.
