St. Joseph s County ISD, founded in 1962 and located in Centreville, Mich., is a service-oriented extension of the Michigan Department of Education and local school districts. The school district operates schools that offer educational and extracurricular programs to students in grades kindergarten through 12. The school also provides sports training and athletic competition in a variety of sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities who live in St. Joseph County. Over 12,000 athletes participate in special Olympic programs every year. The sports activities include skiing, basketball, bowling, golf, soccer and track and field.
