Professional Resume Writing & More
I am so fortunate for the wonderful experiences I have encountered both in school and in the business world. I began studying Public Relations in 1992, and I received a Bachelor of Arts in JournalismPR in 1996. During that time, I worked in the Public Relations department at Madonna University, wrote for the Madonna Herald student newspaper, and designed brochures on the various programs offered at Madonna. I also gave presentations at high schools promoting Madonna. I had the good fortune of promoting two fundraising campaigns for the Salvation Army in Detroit, MI, and Angela Hospice in Livonia, MI. After graduating, I attended Eastern Michigan University to earn a Master of Arts degree in Written Communications. I completed much of the program, but life took a bit of a turn for me, and I had to put the degree on hold to work full-time. I worked as a Guest Relations Coordinator at the Spirit of Ford museum for over two years, volunteered at various churches as a Religious Education instructor and moved on to teach elementary school students for over five years. I started my own private tutoring business in 2005 and tutored students in various subjects for over four years. In 2002, I began teaching English Composition and Research Writing at two colleges part-time, and my love of writing, public speaking and Public Relations returned. I decided that although I love teaching, that is not my true calling. Writing, sales and public relations are my first loves-and strengths-and so I started a resume writing business and began working as a Sales Supervisor at Allstate Insurance. Prior to the business opening in Farmington Hills, MI, I designed marketing materials, newsletters, flyers, telemarketing scripts, and new employee manuals. I did this for free because I wanted to re-familiarize myself with the world of PR, and I loved it. Time stood still when I wrote press releases, designed flyers, and contacted the media for opening day coverage of Allstate.Since leaving Allstate, I have devoted my time to non-profit organizations by working on their PR campaigns to learn more about the field of PR and help out causes that have special meaning to me. For a period of time, I volunteered at the Farmington Chamber of Commerce designing flyers for the Farmington Founders Day Festival. Also, I love helping people reach their professional goals. For this reason, I started Professional Resume Writing. Also, I write cover letters and assist with interviewing and job search strategies. There is nothing more rewarding to me than not only helping myself, but helping others as well.It was through my service to others and volunteering my time, that I realized writing, education and Public Relations are where my heart truly lies. It did take awhile for this vision to become a reality, but I believe everything happens for a reason. For example, my experiences teaching helped me see my excitement for public speaking and writing. I let nothing stand in my way of what I truly love to do, and I always want to learn more. Thats where my love of education comes in. Life is simply too short to not follow your dreams, and I plan on continuing my life of service, no matter where my career takes me.
