Shooks Family Farm Farming has changed much over the years and we have adapted and implemented many new practices. One item we are very proud of is the MAEAP program. MAEAP is an acronym for Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program. This program not only benefits our farm but also assures the general public that every effort is being done to be environmentally aware. Another program we participate in is called GAP. This acronym stands for Good Agricultural Practices. These practices are in place to insure that the fruit we grow on our farm will not only be of the highest quality, but more importantly be the safest we can grow. About Us Shooks Farms Co., L.L.C is located in some of the most desired fruit growing regions in the country. Our close proximity to Lake Michigan allows for cool lake breezes to help delay the fruit buds from advancing too far in the early spring when temperatures begin rising. We currently raise over 175 acres of fruit including light and black sweets as well as tart and Balaton cherries. All varieties are available for U-pick. If you have never experienced picking fresh fruit then please consider putting it on your bucket list as you will not be disappointed. During the season ( usually July to early August ) we allow you to pick cherries Monday Saturday from 8: 30 a.m. to 6: 00 p.m. Shooks Farms Co., L.L.C is unique as it is also a full time beef cattle operation raising and finishing around 350 head of Holstein steers. Each year we plant over 600 acres of corn to feed the cattle.
