Located on the north side of Maple Road, west of Middlebelt Road, the Lutheran Church of the Shepherd King is a close community of Lutheran families from in and around West Bloomfield. The church is well-known for its 20-rank organ, built in 2007, as well as the other instruments used in worship, including a piano, violin and flute, among others. Led by pastor Timothy Holzerland, the church offers worship and education for adults and children every Sunday, in addition to confirmation every Tuesday and small group sessions throughout the week. The Lutheran Church of the Shepherd King also offers its space for weekly dinners, choir performances and women's study sessions. Shepherd King Preschool is taught on-site and offers a whole language-based curriculum.
