Oakman is one of 19 elementary schools in the Dearborn Public Schools district. Led by Principal Radewin Awada, Oakman is classified as an Evergreen School, which is the highest environmentally-friendly rating a school can receive. The school has an intensive recycling program, and encourages students to do projects on topics such as alternative energy and environmental preservation.
