Established in 1994, the Oakland Township Fire Department offers fire and emergency medical response management services. It operates several fire stations and provides fire protection and prevention services. The department maintains a variety of fire suppressing equipment and engines, as well as works for the enhancement of safety for life, property and environment. It conducts cardiopulmonary resuscitation classes for individuals of all ages. Oakland Township Fire Department offers burning permits for yard wastes, such as leaves, twigs and branches. Its fire prevention division provides a range of fire safety programs for more than 900 local school students, scout troops, church groups and other organizations annually. Located in Rochester, Mich., Oakland Township Fire Department is a part of Charter Township of Oakland, which was established in 1827.
