Newaygo County Mental Health is a nonprofit agency that offers a range of health care services for people who suffer from developmental disabilities. Established in 1972, it provides 24-hour emergency services. Newaygo County Mental Health maintains a work force of more than 60 employees. The agency is funded by the State of Michigan General Fund and Medicaid. Newaygo County Mental Health receives grants from the Department of the Community Health and the Fremont Area Community Foundation. It works in collaboration with the Newaygo County Regional Educational Service Agency. The agency is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. Newaygo County Mental Health is a member of the Michigan Association of Community Mental Health Boards, National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare, and Community Mental Health Affiliation of Mid-Michigan. It offers crisis intervention, case management and foster care services. The agency provides substance abuse treatment, nursing home consultation and training, and psychiatric hospitalization, screening, discharge, planning and coordination services. The agency provides Alzheimer s respite care and assisted living support
