National Fire Safety Council, established in 1979 is a nonprofit charitable organization. It provides fire safety educational program for materials and services to fire departments throughout the United States. The council develops fire safety programs, such as comprehensive 24-page graded manuals with a teacher s guide, assorted folders, brochures, posters, wall charts, decals and stickers. The various topics covered by the materials include smoke alarms, home fire exit drills, arson, babysitting, heating safety, stop, drop, and roll, friendly firefighters, holiday hazards, seat belt safety, bicycle safety, water safety, and burn prevention. The council s fire safety education programs are provided to communities through local fire departments. It is located in Michigan Center, Mich., and conducts national and international conventions to showcase its fire safety educational programs.
