Michigan State Police is a statewide law enforcement agency. It responds to emergency calls, accidents and other police-related matters. The department offers bike patrol, case investigation, gun registration, crime prevention and emergency services. The department is responsible for the investigation of violent, property and economic crimes, as well as the apprehension of criminals and fugitives. Michigan State Police looks into several specialty areas, such as narcotics, juvenile crime, sexual assault, burglary and robbery and crime scene investigation. The police department prevents citizens from the illicit manufacturing, distribution, selling and use of drugs. The department is headquartered in East Lansing, Mich.
