Home of Hares, Long Meadow is one of 13 elementary schools in the Rochester Community Schools district. Principal April Wuest leads the staff of more than 60 teachers and support staff. The school has half-day kindergarten and offers K-Club as well as before- and after-school care.
The school is tucked inside the neighborhoods behind Walton Boulevard, between Brewster and Livernois roads. Long Meadow has a large playground, soccer area and baseball field.
With an active Parent Teacher Association, the school hosts a Family Fun Day in the spring. The school participates in Scholastic Reading Counts, a reading comprehension program, as well as the Reflections visual and performance arts contest.
For its environmental initiatives, Long Meadow became an Oakland County Certified Green School in 2009.
