Lapeer Fire & Rescue is a combination department serving over 24,000 residents in an area of approximately 100 square miles, including the City of Lapeer, Lapeer Township, Mayfield Township, and parts of Oregon Township. They provide fire suppression, rescue operations, hazardous materials response, fire safety inspections, and prevention education. With a dedicated team of full-time and part-time firefighters, as well as volunteers, they operate out of a single station equipped with fire engines, a water tanker, a heavy rescue vehicle, a grass truck, and an aerial platform ladder truck.
As a participating member of the Lapeer County Mutual Aid Agreement, Lapeer Fire & Rescue also offers automatic aid assistance to neighboring townships and counties. In 2022, they responded to a total of 506 calls for service, working in collaboration with Lapeer County EMS and MedStar Ambulance for medical emergencies.
