The Kent County Road Commission provides roads maintenance services as part of the County's multi-modal transportation system. The road commission, under contract with the Michigan Department of Transportation, maintains more than 990 miles of state roads. It provides construction, expansion, preservation, repair and maintenance of more than 1,600 miles of paved and approximately 340 miles of gravel roads. The Kent County Road Commission also serves the primary and local county roads. The road commission provides seal coating services that involves application of asphalt emulsion and stone on county roads.
