Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research is a part of the Institute for Social Research of the University of Michigan. It maintains and provides access to a vast archive of social science data for research and instruction, and offers training in quantitative methods to facilitate effective data use. It provides data on various topics that includes child care and early education, health and medical care, computerized data on aging, substance abuse and mental health, and education and criminal justice. The organization has four major operation units that include collection development, collection delivery, educational resources, and data security and preservation. It is a membership-based organization, with more than 500 member colleges and universities around the world. The organization was established in 1962 and is located in Ann Arbor, Mich.
