A K-4 intra-district school of choice, Highmeadow Common Campus is open to students through a lottery process. Established as a "lab school" in 1988, Highmeadow maintains an environment of innovation and creativity, and staff members continue to implement methods and strategies designed to best serve all students. The school has met standards for Annual Yearly Progress established by the federal No Child Left Behind Act and received an "A" composite grade on its State of Michigan report card.
In 2008-2009, Highmeadow Eco-Advocates and Campus Conservationalists worked hard to achieve Oakland County's Emerald Green award, and efforts to retain the school's "green" environment continue. Highmeadow also has a branch of LOC Federal Credit Union, which is operated by students under the supervision of an LOC Federal Credit Union employee. Students may open and maintain their own savings accounts, and the branch is open one day a week to faculty, staff and parents as well.
