History
Harmony is a family owned business- founded by the sibling team of Heather Barry and Jackson VanDyke. The building at 1551 Lake Dr sat as a vacant eyesore for over 10 years until it was purchased by the family in 2009. For 2 years the siblings worked on transforming the building with their own hands, incorporating found materials and refurbished equipment throughout. The brewing system was made from all recycled tanks, retrofitted into a 7 bbl system which currently sits in what was once the basement of a 1928 home. The bar and portions of the walls are laminated with the old gymnasium floor from Western Michigan University, and the doors are pulled from the old Iroquois Public School. Even the chairs, and wood fired oven are found and re-purposed. The brothers began brewing Harmony Beer in late 2011, and the doors were proudly opened to the public in February of 2012. Harmony quickly has established itself as a popular neighborhood hangout.
