Alternative High School serves youths between the ages of 16 and 19. The school s core curriculum includes English, science, mathematics and social studies. It also offers vocational and technology education classes in graphic arts, Web page design, computer applications and e-commerce. Alternative High School additionally provides instruction in employability skills, international business and multiethnic literature. The school organizes various college and career fairs, food drives, fundraising events, field days, picnics and thanksgiving luncheon. It is governed by Ferndale Public Schools, which also operates a preschool, as well as primary, intermediate, elementary, middle and high schools.
