History
The Dominique Fischer Memorial Foundation (DFMF) was established June 30, 2011, just one year after Dominique's passing to remember a beautiful young man we lost far too soon. Initially we simply wanted to fund a scholarship in his memory at his beloved Detroit Catholic Central High School, but as we have grown we discovered the need to support organizations dedicated to eradicating the terrible stigma associated with mental illness (one of the largest barriers to treatment), improving the lives of individuals and families living with mental illness, suicide prevention, parents who have lost children and more. Recovery is possible with treatment, love and support! Rather than just morn his loss, we prefer to offer HOPE!
Specialties
The Dominique Fischer Memorial Foundation celebrates the life and memory of Dominique Alexander Fischer, who we lost to suicide June 27, 2010 after a three year battle with mental illness. Through the foundation we support scholarships at Detroit Catholic Central High School, organizations dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families living with mental illness, suicide prevention, parents who have lost children and more. We support the foundation by hosting a variety of fund raisers annually. We are a 100% volunteer organization. All of the funds we raise are donated and/or reinvested in future events. We are designated tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Your contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
