History
The store that was to become Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy opened as Ideal Pharmacy in Flint, Michigan, in 1973. It was the fourth store in a small chain owned in part by Dale Hagerman, R.Ph. When Dale's son, Phil Hagerman, graduated from college in 1975, Dale traded in his stock from the small chain to buy the store from Ideal. The father/son team founded the company on the belief that if they take good care of the patients, the rest will fall into place. The specialty pharmacy was born. 1991, Phil became president of the pharmacy and in 2004, he partnered with Jeff Rowe and Steve Chaffee partnered to expand the business. Today, Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy is a tightly managed company run by a veteran executive team that's recognized by the MPA and others as a national innovator.
