Constructed in 1924, this beautiful, wooded park was a Michigan state park until 1994, when Rochester Hills took over ownership. As the largest park in Rochester Hills, Bloomer Park features multipurpose fields, plenty of picnic tables and grills, four picnic shelters, three restrooms, three playground areas (including tot playscapes), a scenic overlook from the main pavilion, a dinosaur dig sandbox and hiking/biking trails. In the winter, a sledding hill and cross-country skiing trails are available.
The Mike Walden Velodrome, an oval-shaped racing track for cyclists, is the only one of its kind in Michigan and is available for use with the rental of special bicycles (under 18 are free). For information about the Velodrome and race schedules, please visit www.velodromeatbloomerpark.com.
