Since 1979, Salem Harbor Community Development Corporation has provided affordable housing and other community development services to low and moderate income families on the North Shore. The group maintains 24 buildings with 180 units in Salem. The Salem Harbor CDC also offers a community English program for speakers of other languages. The primary focus is on oral communication, but basics in reading and writing are also part of the curriculum. During winter, spring, and fall, classes meet mornings and evenings, two times per week for two hours per class.
