Open in Belmont for the past seven years, Varter's Oriental Rugs is filled with stacks of rugs in many colors and from many different countries. The store carries Persian, Turkish and Afghani rugs, to name a few. Varter Shirinian, the proprietor, is an antique rug specialist. In addition to wholesale and retail sales, the shop offers appraisals, repairs and cleaning, which is done onsite and by hand. Shirinian is happy to share his extensive rug knowledge and can offer advice about what makes each rug different and which type best fits the needs of the customer.
