Christian Science Church
The First Church of Christ, Scientist has called Elm Street home since 1934, but traces its history back to 1891, when the first Christian Science Sunday School met in Marblehead. In 1925, a group of 22 people interested in forming a new Christian Science Society in Marblehead met at the home of Mrs. Alice Martin on Pond Street and the first formal service was held on Sunday morning, February 8, 1925 at the Odd Fellows Hall on Pleasant Street. The Society eventually moved to the Universalist Church, at the corner of Pleasant and Watson streets, in early 1927. They continued to hold services in the vestry in winter and in the church sanctuary in summer until 1933.
