New England Villages
Established in 1972, New England Village is a community for adults with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities. Located in Pembroke, Mass., it is a charitable nonprofit corporation that offers a workshop facility, and recreational and social activities. The community offers a variety of general and special interest courses in various areas, such as aerobics, woodworking, computers usage, dance, and arts and crafts. Additionally, it provides residents an opportunity to attend theaters, concerts, movies, and sporting events, including skiing, swimming, and track and field. New England Village offers a variety of day and work programs, including employment opportunities, job placement, educational, Crafts Creation Program, Living Center, scrapbook and enrichment programs. Its Living Center program offers various products, including cards, pins, barrettes, pendants, scented gel candles and handcrafted clay pens.
