Established in 1973 as the Family Planning Council of Western Massachusetts, Tapestry Health is a nonprofit organization that provides reproductive health care services. It serves neglected residents, teenagers, women living in poverty, immigrants, homeless individuals, injection drug users, and men and women affected with HIV/AIDS. The organization offers services to more than 40,000 residents of Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire counties in Massachusetts. Tapestry Health provides gynecological care, HIV testing, family planning, counseling and emergency contraception services. It also offers nutritional services for over 8,000 low-income mothers and their babies through the Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program (WIC). The organization additionally conducts educational sessions on various topics, such as sexually transmitted infections education and prevention and pregnancy prevention and contraception methods for youths. Tapestry Health employs counselors, social workers, medical assistants, mental health clinicians and volunteers. It maintains a location in Northampton, Mass.
