Founded in 1986 by longtime Somerville resident Howard Swartz with an eye toward gourmet foods, the catering service, with a commisary three doors down on Broadway, prepares most of its handmade fare from local producers. Focusing on fresh meat, fish and vegetables, Swartz is always on the lookout for the newest, freshest products. In keeping with its intimate philosophy, the catering service only purchases from vendors who match its size and attention to detail. While mainly operating within an hour of greater Boston area, Swartz Catering will travel up to two hours for a function.
