History
Taught to make a simple ring by an Native American Navajo jeweler, Stephen fell quickly into the hand-crafter's circuit. Often traveling with his wife and later with their daughter, Stephen sold beautifully crafted handmade pieces all over the country. In 1976 he opened his own shop in Orleans at Boardwalk at the Cove where Rt 6a meets the end of Rt 28. While largely self taught in the manufacturing of fine jewelry Stephen turned to the courses offered by the world renowned Gemological Institute of America to become an expert in Diamonds & Gemstones. In 1993 Stephen Gallant Jewelers moved just down the road to the intersection of Rt 6a & Main Street (adjoining Watson's men's store). In 2001 after graduating from the Gemolgical Institute of America in Carlsbad, California, Stephen's daughter Casey joined the business full time making Stephen Gallant Jewelers a second generation jewelry store.
