Saint Mary's Parish is a Roman Catholic Church located on Washington Street, directly across from Saint Mary's Elementary School. The church, which was established in 1875, has been a staple of the Winchester community.
St. Mary's takes very good care of the youth in its parish. It has a youth council that meets on the first Wednesday of every month from 7 pm to 9pm. It's a teen-led planning board that has the same function as the Parish council, except they focus on youth activities and events.
The parish youth group enacts whatever the council decides, whether it's car washes, pumpkin carving, soup kitchens or any number of other activities. The parish also has a youth mass that celebrates the young people in the parish once a month at the 11:30am mass. This gives teens a chance to take part in the ceremony as Eucharistic ministers, lecturers, greeters and gift-bearers.
Saint Mary's holds religious education classes every week for grades 1 - 11. The church also holds a vacation bible study camp for children aged 6 - 10 over the summer, as well as a curriculum geared to children with autism or other special needs children.
