St. John's School can be found one block back from North Main St. and St. John the Evangelist Church. The school opened its doors in 1955, and serves as an extension of the St. John's Parish. The school is a private Catholic school, teaching kindergarten through eighth grade. It is part of the Diocese of Fall River and dedicated to carrying on the mission of the Roman Catholic Church.
The school curriculum includes studies in language arts, math, science, social studies and religion, and rounded off by music, art and physical education programs. Aside from teaching a strong educational curriculum, SJE (as it is often referred to) has after school athletic, music, and theater programs. Sports programs include cross country, basketball, volleyball, and spring track. Annual school event highlights include the Fall Talent Show, the Christmas Pageant, the Basketball Tournament, and the Spring Cabaret, to name a few.
Aside from teaching a strong educational curriculum, SJE instills strong faith-based values, and a sense of service to each other and the community. It encourages and relies on parental involvement to foster a strong sense of community. There is even an after school child watch program that is entirely parent-run.
The school admissions program does not discriminate based on race, color or national/ethnic background.
