Sanborn Place is a multi-building facility that is home to aging and disabled individuals. There are several courtyards, benches and even a gazebo that provides a relaxing and quiet environment for the residents. Research has shown that interaction and socialization is key to the physiology of aging and prevents rapid deterioration. At Sanborn Place, the elderly are encouraged to socialize with the neighbors. A variety of activities are offered everyday. A van transportation system is available three days a week to allow occupants the freedom to shop and run errands. Admissions are based on criteria such as age, income and background checks. There are three levels of care available that allow the individual to stay on campus as they age. This is a convenience factor, since many facilities are not equipped to deal with certain restrictions. It is common for elderly or disabled to have to move into different homes as they age and become physically unable to care for themselves. Keeping the person in the same location prevents unnecessary stress and confusion. Sanborn Place is a non-profit organization and is federally funded. They also accept donations.
