The Igbo Organization of New England Inc (IONE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Igbo people of South Eastern Nigeria. With over 40 million Igbo people in Nigeria and an estimated 25,000 residing in Massachusetts, IONE organizes the annual Igbo Day event, attracting over 10,000 attendees each year, featuring cultural music and dances, traditional masquerades, authentic traditional foods, and exhibitions of works of art. As one of the three major ethnic groups in Nigeria, the Igbo people are known for their education and extensive travel experiences. The 2023 Igbo Day, held on August 12th at Franklin Park Field in Boston, Massachusetts, is dedicated to the theme "OUR CHILDREN, OUR CULTURAL HERITAGE - Umu anyi, na Omenala anyi," with a focus on cultural dances and attire.
