Northeastern University is a private, co-educational college founded in 1898. The college offers undergraduate majors in five departments and 125 programs at the graduate level. A few of the departments are biology, criminal justice, economics, education, mathematics, political science and nursing. Northeastern also offers housing, athletics and fraternities/sororities. The college admits about 2,800 freshmen each year while the total undergraduate enrollment is approximately 13,000. The campus is spread out across 73 acres with the main campus off Huntington Avenue.
