Billerica House of Correction is a correctional facility that houses various convicted criminals and undertrial detainees. It was built in 1929 and can accommodate more than 1,200 inmates. The facility conducts several rehabilitative programs and works to provide a safe, secure and service-oriented environment. Billerica House of Correction is a part of The Middlesex Sheriff's Office, which is a law enforcement agency that works to protect the lives and property of residents. The Middlesex Sheriff's Office maintains a youth academy that offers training programs that provide information related to the importance of public safety and fire and emergency response. It also conducts K-9 demonstrations, fire safety house demonstrations, fingerprinting programs, and police and fire department tours.
