Mercy Center was established in 1960 by the Sisters of Mercy and Catholic Charities as a school for children with disabilities. The center is located in Worchester, Mass. It provides comprehensive educational and employment training opportunities for students with developmental disabilities, mental disabilities, sensory impairments, and physical challenges combined with attention, communication, motor, medical and behavioral involvement. Its programs are designed to maximize a student's independence with a goal of full participation. The center operates full-day sessions during regular school days. It offers various vocational services to more than 50 individuals with developmental disabilities. The services are provided primarily at the individual's place of employment or at supervised work sites within the community. The center also offers services to individuals who are medically fragile or are experiencing other significant issues that limit their ability to be engaged in full-day work activities.
