Home Mission Statement The John Winthrop School for Young Children believes in the singularity and wonder of childhood. The school's mission is to foster the social, emotional and cognitive development of young children. Teachers facilitate the learning process by providing children with opportunities to explore many developmentally appropriate activities and materials, and by allowing them to make decisions in accordance with their own interests. John Winthrop School provides a safe and loving environment where children feel free to explore and learn about themselves, others and the world around them. The school fosters parental growth and education through family-oriented events and educational opportunities, and encourages and supports the continued professional development of its staff. Teachers and parents work as partners to support and cultivate each child's intellectual, social and developmental skills. The John Winthrop School endorses and actively practices equal opportunity for all persons regardless of race, creed, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, political beliefs, life style, or disability.
