Incorporated in 1961, Horace Mann Educational Associates, also known as HMEA, is a nonprofit agency that supports more than 2,400 children and adults with developmental disabilities. It serves over 100 communities in central and eastern Massachusetts. The facility, formerly known as Wrentham Research Foundation, offers educational, vocational and residential support services. It assists public schools and provides home-based programs. The facility works in collaboration with the Department of Mental Retardation/ Department of Education Project. Horace Mann Educational Associates offers services for children and young adults with autism and behavioral challenges. Additionally, the facility provides clinical consultation for families and schools, as well as child care providers. It maintains an autism resource center.
