Smell fresh bread baking in Lexington Center? You must be passing by Great Harvest Bread Co. early in the morning. Nicole Caron and Kara Sims opened the store in 2004, when they decided to leave their corporate jobs. This Lexington store of the Great Harvest franchise, mills its own wheat and bakes the bread on-site. With varieties such as honey, whole wheat and cinnamon swirl, 9 grain and challah, customers can find what they need to suit their taste. Non-sweet breads are used to make sandwiches and paninis, which include choices such as turkado, veg-out and napoli. Local sports fans will enjoy the big papi and the green monster varieties. Catering is a popular service at the cafe and lunch is a busy time. In the morning customers can enjoy coffee and a variety of baked goods.
