History
Lake Nipmuc, located within the historically significant Blackstone Valley, has had an adventurous past dating back to the 17th century. Originally providing beauty and natural resources to the Nipmuk Indians, by the mid 19th century this area evolved to a summer destination for the wealthy and on to a regional summer resort area attracting hundreds of people every weekend. Steamboats, electric railways (the Mendon Trolley) were once popular in the area. A new theater where vaudeville stars like Fred Allen played, a dancing pavilion and an amusement park have all graced the shores of Lake Nipmuc. By the late fifties, our site featured the Lakeview Ballroom, hosting record hops, weddings and concerts including one of Aerosmith's very first concerts. The ballroom was sold and renamed the Myriad Ballroom, and is now proudly known as Grand View
