The Framingham Police Department employs about 113 officers in its location near downtown. In 2009, the Police Department had more than 55,000 calls for service, answered more than 18,500 911 calls, made more than 1,600 arrests and reported to more than 1,700 accidents.
Under the leadership of Police Chief Steven B. Carl, the Framingham Police Department provides 24-hour coverage through three police patrol shifts. The town is divided into four geographic shifts. Patrol officers are assigned to each shift and respond to accidents, crimes, domestic disturbances and medical emergencies.
