Lead by Comptroller David C. Wilkinson, this office oversees all of the finances that go through City Hall as well as its various boards and commissions. In addition to preparing financial reports and helping with the annual budget, the comptroller also verifies that the city's finances meet local, state and federal laws. Administration of the city's property insurance program also goes through this office.
The City Comptroller is located in Newton City Hall, which is just over a mile from the Newton Centre MBTA stop (green line, d branch) and the Newtonville Commuter Rail station (purple line, Framingham/Worcester line). The #59 MBTA bus also stops nearby at the intersection of Chestnut Street and Commonwealth Avenue.
