Organized in 1946 to address the housing needs of the low- and moderate-income residents, the Chelsea Housing Authority (CHA) is a public organization that is authorized by state laws. It is regulated by state and federal funding sources, the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The authority also supports various property management and lease housing programs. The Chelsea Housing Authority implements several public safety programs that promote the well-being of neighborhoods and the accountability of program participants. With an office in Chelsea, Mass., it offers a variety of services to residents in elderly, disabled and family housing sites, such as medical, vision screening, podiatry and transportation for senior citizens.
