Established in 1971, Caratunk Wildlife Refuge is an expansive, protected habitat for local plants and animal life. Educational programming is provided for the public throughout the year and the grounds are host to local children's summercamps. Trails at Caratunk navigate through 200 acres, exhibiting the area's forests, fields and wetlands to the community.
