Bridgewell provides housing, clinical services and rehabilitation services to almost 3,000 people in communities north of Boston each day. This nonprofit group helps people with developmental and psychiatric disabilities from communities including Swampscott.
The agency also helps homeless people find places to live and gain the skills to stay in their living arrangements. It also helps children who struggle with behavioral and emotional problems.
Bridgewell has group homes and offices throughout the North Shore including Swampscott and neighboring Lynn. Formerly the Greater Lynn Mental Health and Retardation Association, Bridgewell is funded by state and federal sources as well as private insurance, grants, fees, fundraising and donations.
