The police headquarters, built in 1976, is situated just over Route 93 on the other side of the rotary that also leads to the MBTA station. There is also a substation at the South Shore Plaza that is not always manned, but is used by patrol officers when the need arises. About 72 police officers make up the department, and they go out one per cruiser on patrol. The department encourages residents of Braintree to provide crime tips and download necessary forms on its website, where there is also a slideshow history of the force. Special units of the Braintree PD include motorcycle, canine, juvenille and domestic violence.
