History
In 1966 Judge Samuel Blasberg, along with other community leaders, founded Big Brother Association of Franklin County. In 1967 Big Brother Association of Franklin County held its first annual meeting. The Association had recruited and matched ten boys from the community with Big Brothers. Big Brother Association of Franklin County received a grant from the Greenfield Community Chest to open its first volunteer staffed office. The Community Chest became United Way of Franklin County, which continues to offer yearly financial support to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Franklin County. In 1970 Big Brother Association of Franklin County became an associate member of Big Brothers of America. In 1972 Big Brother Association of Franklin County was designated a 501(3) C b by the IRS. In 1974 Big Brother Association of Franklin County merged with the Big Sister Association of Franklin County to become Big Brother Big Sister Association of Franklin County!
