Bickford's is a New England based restaurant chain. Samuel Bickford opened his first Bickford s cafeteria in the 1920s. Sam, and his son Harold, worked to expand their cafeteria chain throughout the Northeast and into California. In 1959, Harold introduced a new concept to New England, the first Bickford's Pancake House. Over the past 30 years, Bickford's Pancake House chain grew to include 30 restaurants throughout New England. The family-style restaurant focused on breakfast, along with lunch and dinner offerings. As an expansion to the menu, fresh turkey, roasted daily in the restaurants was used for Turkey Club, Hot Turkey Sandwich and a traditional Turkey Dinner. Bickford's chain upgraded other menu items for improved lunch and dinner selections, including fresh seafood, delivered daily from Ipswich Shellfish Company. Other products include scallops, haddock, whole-belly clams and lobster. Along with seafood, other items available consist of New York Sirloin, Black Angus burgers, sweet potatoes, extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar for salad offerings.
